Our place isn't far at all from the border, on the Idaho side:

Being the nice guy that he is, my hubby worries about me driving the roads during winter or early spring. The last time we drove together, we saw 2 roll-over accidents that were less than 5 miles apart!
Luckily, the highway was clear from snow and ice for the most part and the weather was really nice, as you can see.
Here is a picture of Palisade's Reservoir, which is along the way:

It is very large and so very beautiful in the summertime!!
Just to give you an idea of how large this man made lake actually is, here is a description of it taken from Jacksonholenet.com :
Palisades Reservoir, on the upper Snake River, was developed by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1957. The Reservoir is formed by Palisades Dam, which is a major feature on the Palisades Project. Recreation on this 25 square mile (16,100 acre) reservoir, with 70 miles of limited access shoreline, is administered by the Caribou-Targhee National Forest.Once the snow is gone, I'll be adventuring more at the dam and reservoir.
Just before we reached the reservoir, we spotted some elk that were standing so still at first they looked like archery targets. They were quite a ways out in a pasture, but as you can see, the snow was simply too high to attempt getting closer.
It made me realize that I need a camera with much better zoom capability, though:

On the way back, my son snapped this one of the moon peaking over a hill:

Too bad the phone lines are in the way, otherwise it is a nice photo, I think.
Next time, I'll share some pictures I took of the Snake River, right near my house. There is still a bit of snow left in places down here, but not nearly as much as there was up the road toward Jackson Hole!!
Do you have snow where you live?

Hey Chelle!!! Wow you have some fantastic photographs here! And I am so jealous of you having so much snow...lol! Here in Enland, I have only seen a handful of snowflakes so far this year :(
I will definitely be returning to see more of your wonderful photographs! Thanks for sharing them with us :)
Warm wishes ~ Graham
Thanks so much Graham.
I look forward to sharing many more pictures from my area, the snow is great but it covers up the real beauty beneath it. :)
Very nice! The Grand Tetons are on my MUST SEE list! (I have a "thing" for great big ol' mountains....)
:)
Oh Chelle. I am really impressed. I mean it. I absolutely LOVE nature photography. I am going to enjoy this blog immensely.
Hi Chelle,
These are excellent pictures.
Your some pictures reminds me of my village (yes I am in capital city now) where we used to get heavy snow every winter for many days and it was very fun playing in the snow. But, unfortunately, I am not able to go there for about two years. Winter has just finished here and I have heard from my parent that it snowed heavily there this year as well. I am hoping to go my village next year and enjoy the snow.
Olga, you MUST come over and see it, it is just fabulous. We'll have lunch in Jackson! ;)
Tamera, thank you! I can't wait to show off more pictures from all around here. I am going to really love this blog, too! :D
Jirel, I am happy you enjoy my pictures! Snow can be fun but I want it to go away so I can play in the sunshine haha! :)
Sweetness :)
When I become dictator I will ban all power lines!!
I am so Jealous the Tetons area is so beautiful! One of my first post is of the Tetons the glare of the sun was so bright I had to shoot it threw my sunglasses on the Wyoming side just before Jackson Hole. Then I cross back to Idaho over the Tetons pass right at Hoback Junction. Thats one steep pass whew!
Chelle love your new place! I cant wait to see the seasons threw your photogaphy!
Jungl, while you are at it, ban hovering birds from flying off just as you line up a shot of them, too! :)
Roger, I am so glad you like it!! If you ever come this way, let me know and we can take a photo journey together! :)
Wow Chelle, your pictures are beautiful!! And I'm so excited you have another blog!
I had no idea Idaho was that picturesque, I obviously need to visit.
About 3 times a year it snows in my mountains but only a few inches. Of course that doesn't stop me from breaking out the camera and getting all excited over 2 inches of snow. :)
WOW, I really like the photos. Beautiful...all that blue sky and white ground. They reminded me of when I lived in Maine. I grew up there and we would get 3' in one storm. It was wild and we had to use kerosene lanterns, the wood stove or fire place because the power would go out and school was canceled. It was GREAT as a kid because we could out side and play ALL day. :) :)
I love this blog! The photography is amazing. I grew up in Vermont and I really miss the natural beauty and mountains. This site definitely brings back memories!
